1. WHAT IS NBTV95?
NBTV95 is a non-commercial television channel on New Bedford's Cable Television system with programming made for New Bedford organizations and residents by New Bedford organizations and residents.
NBTV95 believes Public Access Television is a powerful vehicle for promoting greater awareness of the issues of New Bedford and the diversity of its people.
2. WHERE IS NBTV95?
Our studios and offices are located at 918 South Rodney French Blvd. in the City's South End.
Our state of the art facility consists of two fully functional studios, three edit suites, and portable equipment for check-out.
3. WHAT TYPES OF SHOWS CAN BE SEEN ON NBTV95?
That's up to you. Because our shows are created by local organizations and residents, their interests, opinions, concerns, and issues are on display for all of New Bedford to see.
The only restrictions to what can be aired are those programs which violate the law, advertise a commercial product or service, or use unauthorized copyrighted material.
4. HOW DOES ONE BEGIN PRODUCING A SHOW FOR NBTV95?
NBTV95 offers comprehensive training in basic video production for New Bedford organizations and residents interested in producing shows. Classes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and cover aspects of studio and portable production and videotape editing. Class size is limited and there is a waiting list for those interested in taking our classes.
Only those organizations and residents who complete training can utilize NBTV95 equipment and facilities. NBTV95 also accepts programs from residents who make programs using their own equipment.
As a non-profit and community organization, you can produce programs that will increase public awareness of your organization and its goals, attract volunteers, and provide important information to the community you serve, reaching a potential audience of over 30,000 cable subscribers in New Bedford.
Since you create the show for your organization by using NBTV95, there is never the fear that your message will be edited as may be the case with the mainstream media.
5. WHAT SERVICES DOES NBTV95 PROVIDE FOR NON-PROFIT AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS?
NBTV95 is committed to helping non-profit and community organizations get their message out to the New Bedford community. We can do this by providing the following:
CUSTOMIZED VIDEO PRODUCTION TRAINING FOR NON-PROFIT AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS
NBTV95 will develop an training program specifically geared to your organization. We recommend that at least four members of the organization take the training. This will guarantee your organization will always have a television "crew" available to produce shows.
6. PSA DAYS
For those organizations who may not have the resources to produce their own program, NBTV95 will, from time to time, sponsor PSA Days.
This event will invite organizations to take part in a five to ten minute taping during which the organization can introduce itself to the community or promote an upcoming event.
Once complete, these PSA's will be broadcast back to back as well as filler for other Public Access programs.
7. ACCESS TO THE NBTV95 COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD
NBTV95 maintains a community bulletin board displaying announcements of events and happenings in and around New Bedford.
Whether you choose to produce a show or not, utilizing the community
bulletin board gives New Bedford residents a way to follow the activity of your non-profit
or community
organization.
8. HOW CAN ORGANIZATIONS GET STARTED?
Just pick-up the phone and contact us. Each organization will meet with our staff to devise a program that will meet that organization's specific needs.
Even though producing television programs is time consuming, it is extremely rewarding and should be considered part of an organization's marketing plan.
9. DOES NBTV95 OFFER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES?
