Parker Street Waste Site Assessment & Cleanup Activities

EPA-MassDEP-City of New Bedford Site Activities Calendar

The City of New Bedford anticipates the following activities related to environmental investigations and cleanup at the Parker Street Waste site for the week of July 26 through 31, 2010.  Dates of performance of these activities may vary depending on factors such as staff, contractor availability, and weather.

  • Walsh Field: No site activities are planned for this week.
  • Andrea McCoy Field (at site of former Keith Jr. High School): Site work as required for construction of new athletic complex will continue pending suitable weather. 
  • New Bedford High School: The City’s contractor will be on site working on the removal and replacement of the B-Block unit ventilators and other building materials containing polychlorinated biphenyls and asbestos in the school.  The City’s consultant will provide oversight.
  • Nemasket Street Lot: No site activities are planned for this week. 
  • Greenwood & Ruggles Streets Neighborhood: The Dept. of Public Infrastructure is expected to have equipment on site Monday to begin crushing the foundations of 101 and 111 Greenwood St. and 98 and 108 Ruggles St.  Backfill and site restoration is expected to begin this week.  City personnel will be present on site to conduct oversight, and the City’s consultant will be on site to conduct dust monitoring and to assist with oversight.
  • Keith Middle School:  No site activities are planned for this week.
