Learning to fly an airplane is an incredible journey and anyone can do it! Students commonly begin training in their teenage years and individuals upwards of 80 years old have started and successfully completed their flight training. Earning a pilot certificate is a very rewarding experience, which will allow you to do something that truly very few have ever done – fly an airplane! If you’re interested in learning more, reach out to one of our aviation education providers:

Colonial Air, a fixed based operator at New Bedford Regional Airport provides flight training from basic introductory flights up to instructor certification training. As a full-service FBO, Colonial is operational every day, including a lounge area overlooking the ramp and runways, where students can spend some extra time at the airport soaking up their fill of aviation!

Bridgewater State University (BSU), the largest collegiate aviation program in New England is based at the New Bedford Regional Airport. As a flagship tenant of the airport, BSU makes up a large share of the annual airport operations. BSU offers students the ability to earn Bachelor degrees in Aviation Science and/or Aviation Management. Students in the professional pilot (Aviation Science) program earn (at a minimum) Private Pilot, Instrument Pilot, Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor certifications during their time at BSU.
