Election Commission reminds voters that Wednesday, October 18 is the deadline to register to vote in Municipal Election
New Bedford, Massachusetts– The New Bedford Board of Election Commissioners reminds New Bedford residents that Wednesday, October 18, 2017, is the deadline both to register to vote in the upcoming November 7 Municipal Election as well as to notify the Board of Elections of any change in voter name or address.
The City of New Bedford Election Office, located in City Hall at 133 William Street, Room 114, will remain open on Wednesday, October 18 until 8:00 p.m. in order to provide the public more time to complete the voter registration process and make necessary updates to their name or address.
Any voter who is unable to get to the polls on Election Day may vote by absentee ballot in the Election Office during regular business hours (Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) once absentee ballots are available, or voters may request that an absentee ballot their home address. Absentee ballots must be cast by 12 noon on November 6, the day before the election. In addition, to allow voters more time to cast an absentee ballot, the City of New Bedford Election Office will be remain open on Saturday, November 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
In the Municipal Election, New Bedford voters will be casting their votes for Mayor, Assessor, School Committee, Councillors-At-Large and Ward Councillors.
