Elite Airways lands in New Bedford for the Holiday Season!
Founded in 2006, Elite Airways has been providing scheduled passenger service to destinations throughout the country. With a focus on quality, Elite operates in markets that are underserved within the National Transportation System. This brings a unique opportunity to New Bedford and the surrounding communities. The 70-passenger Bombardier CRJ-700 and 50-passenger CRJ-200 jets will offer non-stop service to and from Vero Beach, FL. Passengers receive free onboard snacks and beverages, first checked bag up to 50lbs, and no ticketing change fees (see website for details). Elite Airways is also pet friendly. The airline will operate a Holiday schedule from December 16 to January 1. This is the first commercial jet service the New Bedford Regional Airport has seen in nearly three decades!
Airport Manager Scot Servis and the rest of the EWB team have secured FAA Part 139 certification. This certification has paved a way for the Airport’s future, making it a commercially viable option for domestic carriers like Elite.
“Vero Beach continues to be a top performer and we are pleased to offer holiday nonstops to New Bedford. As we head into one of the most stressful times for travel, Elite Airways offers much-needed relief with convenient nonstop flights out of smaller regional airports. This allows passengers to avoid traffic jams, crowds and long lines, and enjoy more quality time with friends and family during the holidays,” said Elite Airways president John Pearsall.
According to the Chairman of the New Bedford Regional Airport Commission, Paul Barton, “We welcome Elite Airways at EWB and believe there’s a compelling economic advantage in bringing people up from Florida to the New Bedford area. The airport offers free parking and a short walk from curb to gate, which is a great alternative to the congestion, confusion and costs associated with larger airports in Mass. and Rhode Island. New Bedford has a lot to offer as a historic city as well as its proximity to the Cape and islands, and we believe the Elite Airways service will make a big difference in people’s travel schedules this holiday season.”
“We welcome the arrival of Elite Airways, and we are encouraged that the recent hard work to secure FAA approval for commercial air service from our airport is already paying off,” said Mayor Jon Mitchell. “Elite’s holiday service will offer residents of Greater New Bedford a convenient option to travel to Florida this winter.”
“With on-site parking and no lines, the New Bedford Regional Airport and Elite Airways are bringing the convenience back to commercial air travel,” said Assistant Airport Manager Michael Crane.
