Film Designed to Bring Communities Together to Confront Opioid Epidemic Coming to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford/Wareham

Free community screening of Jim Wahlberg’s “If Only”

NEW BEDFORD – The Physicians to Prevent Opioid Abuse (PPOA) and Nurses to Prevent Opioid Abuse (NPOA) in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford/Wareham to host a viewing of “If Only,” a short film co-written and produced by James Wahlberg, on May 26 at the club on 166 Jenney Street, New Bedford at 6:30 p.m. The film was created to initiate a meaningful dialogue between parents and children, and within communities, about prescription drug misuse and opiate addiction.

“This film addresses one of the most serious health issues facing our society today. Addiction touches every culture, every family, and ultimately every one of us,” Wahlberg said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to create a project that informs, educates and leads viewers to recognize the warning signs of opioid use and to participate in a solution.”

The event is open to the community free of charge and will include free refreshments and a community conversation about addiction led by a panel of local experts. For event information or to reserve your free tickets (seating is limited, pre-registration is advised) please visit https://ifonlynb.eventbrite.com.
