Now in its 30th year, SeniorScope is a free monthly publication of the City of New Bedford which provides information targeted to low-income and housebound elders on such issues as health care, nutrition, entitlements, Social Security, legislation, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, housing, finance, safety and transportation as well as cultural and recreational activities and local events of interest. Through a grant from Coastline Elderly Services, Inc., Senior Scope is distributed to Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett, Gosnold and Rochester as well as New Bedford. The paper is published ten times a year. There is no June or December issue.
SeniorScope provides listings of information seniors need, such as: bus and van transportation to out of town hospitals; addresses and phone numbers of area Councils on Aging and Senior Centers; monthly menu from Regional Elderly Nutrition Program; health screenings, etc.
SeniorScope is also recorded on cassette each month and sent out by the New Bedford Free Public Library, free of charge, for the blind or those with vision problems.
