Explore New Bedford Awarded $65,000 State Tourism Grant to Promote ‘See-Worthy’ Marketing Campaign
NEW BEDFORD – Explore New Bedford, the City’s marketing and tourism department, has been awarded a $65,000 grant from the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism to expand its “See-Worthy” marketing campaign.
The grant came through MOTT’s Massachusetts 250 Grant Program, which awarded $1.5 million to almost 40 municipalities and organizations across the state as it gears up to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War and the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
“New Bedford is full of unique places to see, experience, and explore,” Mayor Jon Mitchell said. “We’re grateful to the Healey-Driscoll Administration and MOTT for supporting Explore New Bedford’s work to attract visitors to New Bedford.”
“New Bedford is the perfect city for those seeking rich cultural experiences, captivating art, and deep-rooted history,” Explore New Bedford Director Ashley Payne said. “The MA250 grant will help Explore New Bedford expand our ‘See-Worthy’ campaign, allowing us to amplify our marketing efforts, highlight the City’s revolutionary moments, and ensure that visitors from near and far can discover all that makes New Bedford truly unique. By securing this grant, we’re able to elevate our city’s visibility on a larger scale, driving economic impact and showcasing New Bedford as a must-visit destination for years to come.”
Explore New Bedford is taking the revolutionary theme of MA250 and applying it to New Bedford with the expansion of the “See-Worthy” campaign to include people, places and sites that sparked big ideas and movements, such as first-generation small business owners or Frederick Douglass’ first home.
