Voter registration deadline is February 12; Early voting available the week of February 24
New Bedford, Massachusetts– The New Bedford Election Commission reminds the public that February 12, 2020, will be the last day to register to vote in order to participate in the presidential primary election on March 3, 2020, as well as to notify the Election Commission of any change in voter name or address.
In the presidential primary election on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, registered voters may cast their votes for their presidential preference, state committeeman, state committeewoman, and ward committee.
The voter registration deadline is also the deadline to change your party affiliation with the Election Commission office. If you wish to change your party enrollment, you may do so by filling out a new voter registration form. Members of political parties may vote only in their own party’s primary elections. Unenrolled voters (commonly referred to as “Independents”) and members of political designations or minor parties may vote in the party primary of their choice. Choosing to vote in a particular party’s primary does not enroll you as a member of that party.
The Election Commission Office, located at New Bedford City Hall, 133 William Street, in Room 114, will remain open on Wednesday, February 12, until 8:00 p.m. in order to allow the public more time to complete the voter registration process and make necessary updates to their name or address.
Early voting is available February 24 through February 28; absentee ballots available
