What Can I Recycle?
SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING
The information below pertains to all areas of the City except downtown. If you are a business or resident of downtown, please click here or call (508) 961-3008 for more information.
Recycling is now mandatory for everyone in the City of New Bedford – even if you pay for private collection.
That means recyclable items such as bottles, cans, jugs, jars, cartons, paper, and cardboard cannot be placed in the trash.
As part of the City’s program, Capitol Waste Services collects single stream recycling weekly from residents and small businesses. Customers should place recycling carts curbside by 7:00 a.m. on the designated collection day, but no earlier than 5:00 p.m. on the day before collection. All recycling must fit in the cart provided. Property owners are eligible to pay a one-time fee for additional recycling carts. Call the Department of Facilities and Fleet Management at (508) 961-3008.
