City Celebrates! New Year’s Eve 2013

New Bedford, Massachusetts – On December 31, 2013 the City of New Bedford will help ring in the New Year in style with a number of free, fun, and festive activities for everyone during City Celebrates! New Year’s Eve. The festivities will begin at 4:30pm with an opening welcome from Mayor Jon Mitchell and New Bedford City Councilors and performances by Miss New Bedford, Miss New Bedford Outstanding Teen, the Showstoppers, and the UMass Steel Drum Band…. Mayor Announces “Graffiti Free NB” Initiative

New Unveils Prevention and Removal Campaign; New Tool to Report on Graffiti, Tree Trimmings and Pot Holes

New Bedford, Massachusetts – On Thursday, December 12, 2013 Mayor Jon Mitchell joined with representatives from the Department of Public Infrastructure, New Bedford Police Department, SeeClickFix, and members of the local artist community to announce, Graffiti Free NB, the City’s new comprehensive approach to graffiti prevention and removal. As part of the announcement, the Mayor unveiled a new free app for smart phones that residents may use to report graffiti, and request tree trimmings and pot hole repairs…. Graffiti Free NB

New Bedford City Hall’s Flag Plaza Dedicated in Memory of WWII Veteran Joseph Theodore

New Bedford, Massachusetts – On Monday, December 16, 2013 Mayor Jon Mitchell gathered with members of the City Council and State Legislative Delegation, city residents and local veterans to dedicate New Bedford City Hall’s Flag Plaza in memory of New Bedford native and World War II Army veteran Joseph Theodore. A plaque in honor of “The Flag Man” was unveiled at the base of the flag pole in front of City Hall and Mr. Theodore was remembered for his patriotism, energy and commitment to honoring his fellow veterans… Joseph Theodore Dedication
