New Bedford Public Library Paintings Part of Global Art Conservation Project Three Bierstadt Paintings to be Restored Through Bank of America Grant

 

1-1New Bedford, Massachusetts – Three paintings by New Bedford native Albert Bierstadt will be restored as part of Bank of America’s global Art Conservation Project.

Without restoration, these paintings would likely be removed from public view and permanently stored in order to prevent further damage.

“When these paintings come back to New Bedford, they’ll be as the world was meant to see them,” said New Bedford Mayor Jonathan F. Mitchell. Read more (PDF)

City Pulse Survey – Let Your Voice Be Heard!

 

City PulseNew Bedford, Massachusetts – The New Bedford Health Department has launched a new online survey called the City Pulse Survey.

The brief online survey is designed to obtain feedback from New Bedford residents regarding what they believe are the most prominent health concerns in our City.

Information gathered from the survey will help the Health Department shape its future programs and projects in order to better respond to the needs of City residents. Read more (PDF)

Mayor Announces City Will Host Free Concerts on State Pier

 

Summer Sound SeriesNew Bedford, Massachusetts – This week, Mayor Jon Mitchell announced that the City will host a series of free summer concerts on the New Bedford waterfront during the summer months of July and August.

The first of its kind, Summer Sound Series will feature live musical entertainment on
State Pier in Downtown New Bedford.

Residents and visitors will dance to the music of local artists, enjoy beverages available for purchase, and relax along New Bedford’s beautiful working waterfront.

Summer Sound Series will consist of seven waterfront concerts. The first concert of the series will be this Friday, July 12th from 6pm to 8pm. Remaining concert dates include: July 19th, July 26th, August 9th, August 16th, August 23rd, and August 30th. Read more (PDF)

New Bedford Hosts the Massachusetts Mayors’ Association

Massachusetts Municipal AssociationNew Bedford, Massachusetts – On Wednesday, June 26, 2013 mayors from across the Commonwealth convened at the New Bedford Whaling Museum for the Massachusetts Mayors’ Association’s (MMA) monthly meeting.

Mayor Jon Mitchell hosted the meeting and welcomed the group of mayors who hailed from cities including Salem, Medford, Gloucester, and Marlboro. Read more (PDF)
