City Encourages Storm Preparedness

New Bedford, Massachusetts – The City is encouraging residents to use caution in anticipation of high winds and heavy rains starting this evening and into Friday.  New Bedford is currently under a high wind warning from Friday, Dec. 23 until Saturday, Dec. 24, and under a coastal flood watch effective Friday, Dec. 23. Winds are forecast to peak on Friday afternoon.

Residents are urged to avoid City beaches, CoveWalk, HarborWalk, and Fort Taber during the storm. Residents are also encouraged to ensure that loose objects in areas around their homes are secured.

Mayor Mitchell encouraged: “Taking a few sensible precautions and exercising common sense will help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and healthy holiday season.”
