Music at St. Anthony’s Presents Recital Organist Gail Archer.
At 3:30 p.m., on Sunday, March 12, 2017, Gail Archer of New York City will play a recital at the spectacular St. Anthony of Padua cathedral style Church in New Bedford’s North end. As an avid participant in the effort to keep the church’s historic 104 year-old Casavant pipe organ in good working order, Gail is familiar with this magnificent 4 manual-sixty rank instrument. As the Chair of the Music Department at Barnard College, Columbia University; and most recently, appointed Professor of Organ at Manhattan School of Music, she expands on her skills as a musician performing for music festivals world-wide. She relies on a system to set up the registration on each instrument she plays, listening to how the voice resonates and adjusts the settings for each piece in her programs accordingly for the venue. A freewill offering (suggested donation of $10) will be accepted for the pipe organ fund and used toward ongoing renovations. All are welcome to attend.
