Infectious disease surveillance, reporting, and control
Infectious diseases are illnesses caused by germs that enter the body, multiply, and can cause an infection. They are a continuous threat to public health and therefore require close monitoring. The New Bedford Health Department strives to:
- reduce the impact of infectious diseases
- control infectious diseases in the community
- respond to emerging infectious disease concerns
- create a healthier New Bedford
